The wild beast, for ambush, have all waken دد و دامت کمین از پیش و از پس 

Let us inquire of each other's state بیا تا حال یکدیگر بدانیم 
If we can, each other's wishes consummate مراد هم بجوییم ار توانیم

I can see this chaotic field که می‌بینم که این دشت مشوش
Joy and peace sometimes won't yield چراگاهی ندارد خرم و خوش

O friends, tell me who braves the danger که خواهد شد بگویید ای رفیقان 
To befriend the forsaken, behold the stranger رفیق بیکسان یار غریبان

Unless blessed Elias may come one day مگر خضر مبارک پی درآید
And with his good office open the way ز یمن همتش کاری گشاید

It is time to cultivate love مگر وقت وفا پروردن آمد
Individually decreed from above که فالم لا تذرنی فردا آمد

Thus I remember the wise old man چنینم هست یاد از پیر دانا
Forgetting such a one, I never can فراموشم نشد، هرگز همانا

That one day, a seeker in a land که روزی رهروی در سرزمینی 
A wise one helped him understand به لطفش گفت رندی ره‌نشینی

Seeker, what do you keep in your bag که ای سالک چه در انبانه داری
Set up a trap, if bait you drag بیا دامی بنه گر دانه داری

In reply said I keep a snare جوابش داد گفتا دام دارم
But for the phoenix I shall dare ولی سیمرغ می‌باید شکارم

Asked how will you find its sign بگفتا چون به دست آری نشانش
We can't help you with your design که از ما بی‌نشان است آشیانش

Like the spruce become so wise چو آن سرو روان شد کاروانی
Rise to the heights, open your eyes چو شاخ سرو می‌کن دیده‌بانی

Don't lose sight of the rose and wine مده جام می و پای گل از دست
But beware of your fate's design ولی غافل مباش از دهر سرمست

At the fountainhead, by the riverside لب سر چشمه‌ای و طرف جویی
Shed some tears, in your heart confide نم اشکی و با خود گفت و گویی

This instrument won't tune to my needs نیاز من چه وزن آرد بدین ساز 
The generous sun, our wants exceeds که خورشید غنی شد کیسه پرداز 

In memory of friends bygone به یاد رفتگان و دوستداران
With spring showers hide the golden sun موافق گرد با ابر بهاران

When flows forth the crying river چو نالان آمدت آب روان پیش
With your own tears help it deliver مدد بخشش از آب دیده خویش 

My old companion was so unkind نکرد آن همدم دیرین مدارا
O Pious Men, keep God in mind مسلمانان مسلمانان خدا را

Unless blessed Elias may come one day مگر خضر مبارک ‌پی تواند
Help one loner to another make way که این تنها بدان تنها رساند

Look at the gem and let go of the stone تو گوهر بین و از خر مهره بگذر
Do it in a way that keeps you unknown ز طرزی کن نگردد شهره بگذر

As my hand moves the pen to write چو من ماهی کلک آرم به تحریر
Ask the main writer to shed His light تو از نون والقلم می‌پرس تفسیر 

I entwined mind and soul indeed روان را با خرد درهم سرشتم

Then planted the resulting seed وز آن تخمی که حاصل بود کشتم

In this marriage the outcome is joy فرحبخشی در این ترکیب پیداست
Beauty and soulfulness employ که نغز شعر و مغز جان اجزاست

With hope's fragrant perfume بیا وز نکهت این طیب امید
Let eternal soul rapture assume مشام جان معطر ساز جاوید

This perfume comes from angel's sides که این نافه ز چین جیب حور است
Not from the doe whom men derides نه آن آهو که از مردم نفور است

Friends, to friends' worth be smart رفیقان قدر یکدیگر بدانید
When obvious, don't read it by heart چو معلوم است شرح از بر مخوانید

This is the end of tales of advice مقالات نصیحت گو همین است
